I'd like to do a curious george theme for my son's 2nd b-day. I've looked in the gallery but al I can find is the molded figures out of gumpaste. I'm so not ready for any of that.
Any suggestions on just doing a face?
TIA
When I'm doing just faces, I like to do a round or sheet cake and then make a six in. round cake on top and that is the face. I bet it would be easy to do a FBCT (frozen butter cream transfer), but I myself have never done one. I usually use the pin prick method onto to cake itself.
Here are examples of what I meant by the six in. round on top of another cake. Hope I helped a little ![]()

Here is a link to one I did last year. It was a buttercream transfer. It turned out really cute - you could just do the face instead of the whole body.

Kory-
What tip did you use for the fur? And I love the chocolate scrolls cake you did.
I've done a Curious George character cake twice...once just by "drawing" his face on w/frosting and once as a FBCT...definately recommend the FBCT!!! The first one is in my photos on CC and the second is on my website. (I'd post links, but for some reason I never get them to work correctly)! I used the Elmo birthday/ice cream cone shaped pan. The original design was from another sheet cake I found in the galleries. Good luck!
The fur is just the grass tip... forget what number... I made it real short near the face, basically just dots, and then longer around the edges. The ears are fondant with skewers. Face is fondant. I just cut out a rough face shape and then perfected it by piping the fur over part. Fondant can't be too thick tho.
