THANKS . VERY NICE. I'M MAKING THE WILTON PAN WHERE ELMO IS LAYING FLAT WITH GIFT AND ICECREAM IN HIS HAND. MY SON WHO IS TURNING 2 ONLY EATS CAKE THAT HAS FROSTING IN TH MIDDLE.

SOMEONE IN THE FORUM TOLD ME TO MAKE TWO ELMOS AND STICK THEM TOGETHER WITH THE BUTTERCREAM IN THE MIDDLE. IT'S A GREAT IDEA BUT I THINK IT WOULD BE TOO MUCH icon_rolleyes.gif OR MAYBE I COULD BE WRONG.

I WAS THINKING ON MAKING A SHEET CAKE INSTEAD A LITTLE BIGGER THAN ELMO AND PLACING ELMO ON THAT INSTEAD.

IS THAT A GOOD IDEA OR WOULD IT FLOP??? icon_rolleyes.gif

THAT IS CUTE BUT I DON'T THINK I CAN GET ELMO TO SIT THERE LIKE THAT LOL icon_biggrin.gif I'M NEW TO THIS SO I WANTED SOMETHING NOT TOOO DIFFICULT AT FIRST.

SO I WENT AHEAD AND BOUGHT THE ELMO FULL BODY PAN WITH THE DIRECTIONS FROM WILTON. BUT BEING AS HE ONLY EATS CAKES WITH FROSTING IN THE MIDDLE icon_rolleyes.gif HE HAS HIS OWN LITTLE TASTES ALREADY icon_biggrin.gif I WANTED TO ADD ANOTHER CAKE UNDERNEATH.

I WAS THINKING IT MIGHT BE TOO HEAVY FOR THE SHEET CAKE IF IT LAYS UNTOP OF IT. I DON'T KNOW. I AM SOOO CONFUSEDOH MY GOD I NEED HELP!!!!

you can torte those cakes if he likes frosting in the middle!!! Or if you want it on the sheet cake...just put the character cake on it's own board, would make it a lot easier when it's time to cut the cake anyhow...just pull elmo off and cut both cakes!

Hey no problem. I think Khalstead's idea of putting it on its own board is a good idea or I'm sure you could set it right on top of it.

And a box mix will hold up just fine..that's what I use for mine all the time & they turn out great.

I also doctor mine up ...you can run a search on here for it...I use butter instead of oil & milk instead of water...& sometimes I add instant pudding if its not already in the mix...it helps it hold up a little better.

Oh, & it looks like that is 1/2 sheet underneath elmo. If you have a half sheet pan you could use that or I use 2 9x13's pushed together.

edited because I thought of somthing else:

If you do 1/2 sheet plus Elmo on top that is alot of cake...I'm not sure how many people you need it for. You could just do 1/4 sheet & stick Elmo on top...that would easily give you 30+ servings.

Or I found one more thing...you could do Elmo on top of a round cake: It looks to be at least a 10"

WHAT KIND OF BOX MIXES WOULD BE GREAT. I PLAN ON USING JUST THE PLAIN WHITE.....

SORRY TO BE GOING BACK AND FOURTH BUT I AM NW TO THIS AND WANT IT TO BE A.O.K.. icon_biggrin.gif SO ANY IDEAS AND ADVISE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS

I just edited my above post for sizes.

I usually use Duncan Hines mix because it doesn't already have the pudding in it & add powdered instant pudding to the mix. If you run a search on here for cake mix recipes or doctored cake mixes there are alot of suggestions....I don't usually measure my stuff so I can't really give you accurate measurements on the ingredients, etc.
