Hi,

This is my first post. I have really enjoyed seeing all of the beautiful cakes and reading all of the good advice.

I have seen a previous post that mentioned covering cake boards with contact paper. So if you use contact paper (the slicky kind) can you put your cake directly on the contact paper? Will this make it sweat? I'm using dowels so I'm not worried about it sliding--but was just wondering how it works since the contact paper is so slick.

TIA

It should be fine. Covering board with wrapping paper that matches your design then clear contact paper will give you more options depending what you want the cake board to look like.

I've never had a problem with it...might put a blob of buttercream under the cake just to hold it tight.

It's not as slippery as you would think. I always use it and have never had slippage.
