I have to make 2 dozen cupcakes for my Son 2nd Birthday party. I'm kinda new to the cake decorating thing. and only do it for fun and family and friends. But I made one for a friend and got 2 orders from that so i'm plannign on taking it up as a side job.

I've never done cupcakes. Can anyone tell me how to go about doing cupcakes that's after the batter? I made some for my Neice and they were horrible thumbsdown.gif I placed the batter int he paper cups and then placed the cups in the slots of the muffin pan. What pans do I use? etc etc any advice will be great!! icon_cry.gif

When I make cupcakes I put the paper cups in the pans then pour in my batter. Fill 1/2 to 2/3 full and bake according to the directions or until a toothpick in the middle comes out clean. I hope this helps you!! icon_smile.gif

Put the paper cups in the muffin pan and fill 2/3 .Bake at 350 for about 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. If you are using a white cake mix you may want to watch the time as it gets closer because these tend to burn really quickly on the edges and bottom.

You want the cupcakes to make a dome shaped ontop so 2/3 is plenty.

Whenever I am doing cupcakes or cookies, one or two baked first as testers. Be sure to preheat your oven too. There is a woman who sells something called cupcake cuddler. They are made of paper, come in all sorts of colors and are decorated. They dress up the cupcakes quite well. They are put on after they are baked. If you fill your cupcakes they are even tastier. LOL

I'm planning on doing an Elmo full body cake. so maybe the yellow cake might be a good choice. Any pictures of Elmo Full body cakes?
