I am limited in my abilities to decorate, so I need some ideas for a Mother's Day cake that are not too advanced. I have taken Wilton Course 1, and part of Course 2. I would like some flowers on the cake, but nothing too difficult.

Which brings me to another question. I'm not a big fan of royal icing. Can I make the Course 2 flowers with bc? If so, do I need to do something different? Just make them, let them stiffen and then place them on? Also, is that the "drop flower" technique?

I am making the White Almond Sour Cream cake with choc raspberry creamer and bc icing. Any ideas on simple yet elegant looking decor would be great!

BC flowers would be perfect icon_smile.gif
All I ever do is make them and put them on a cookie sheet then freeze them till I want them on the cake. It makes it much easier to get them where you want them on a cake when they are frozen.
Drop flowers are made with, surprisingly enough, drop flower tips. You can go to Wilton's site and see which tips they have for drop flowers. Here's the link:

Basically you are just piping the flowers directly on the cake where you want them. I have seen it done with roses but I am not that good so I can't do it.

There is a whole album in the galleries from last year's Mother's Day cake contest...search there for even more ideas.

I agree on the frozen bc flowers...super easy!
