This is an XP, but I'm not getting much action on the other post and I need HELP!!!

I need a birthday cake for a new dad... Any ideas??

Also, what about a cake for a chef? I was thinking a 3D chef hat with a rolling pin next to it (I guess it all depends on what kind of chef he is though) or maybe a meat tendurizer? He also loves cats so maybe a 2 tier with the top tier being a chef had and then fondant kitties playing on the bottom tier??

... Errr, looks like I just answered my own question for my second cake!!

Any ideas would be great!! Thanks!

For the new dad, I'm just thinking critically here, it's his birthday. A cake commemorating his status as a new dad might be better used next month on father's day. I don't know if this is a customer or family; but I think a personal cake would be better ... some hobby or interest of his.

For the new dad how about a stork carrying a baby dressed in pink or blue? If you do fondant/gumpaste figures a cake with a man sitting in a recliner holding a baby would be cute.

Love your chef ideas thumbs_up.gif

Thanks guys!
It's a client that wants the new dad birthday cake. He also says the dad is a lover of ski boarding... I was thinking of making a male figure holding a pair of skiis and a baby on the other arm... However, I think that may be a bit ambitious seeing as I've never done fondant figures before!! I could probably do it as a FBCT though? The other thought I had was to do a present cake with the lid partially off and a baby crawling out of it. Maybe I'll suggest to the client that the cake be more birthday focused seeing as fathers day is right around the corner. Thanks again!!

Whaley_S , I Love your idea about the gift box w/ the baby crawling out of it! Maybe you could make the baby wearing a sash or a tag that says To: Dad - From: (mom & baby's name) icon_biggrin.gif
