Please Help! My Frosting Is Too Thin!
Decorating By rgeelan Updated 11 May 2007 , 12:26am by rgeelan
I made the frosting for my DD's birthday cake yesterday and totally spaced. I used 1/4 butter to 3/4 crisco, and then put in too much water! It survived for frosting the bottom layer but is way to thin to do the decorations and star fill in for the duck! Is there a way to salvage this? Can I add more powdered sugar to thicken it up? I don't have the time/energy/ingredients to remake it all so I am really desperate!
Please help! Any advice is great!
I added more *a lot more* sugar and it evened out for what I frosted tonight... I actually wound up having to scrape the frosting off the bottom layer because it didn't crust, it melted as it sat out... I thought by making it with part real butter that might solve my other frosting issues (my roses crack at the edge), but I guess I need to remember to use a little less water when I do since butter melts. lol!
Thanks for all the help. I may have to try the cornstarch on the rest of the frosting I need to do tomorrow. Cause I wound up using most of the powdered sugar I had left to fix the frosting I used today...
This cake is taking way more time than I imagined. lol!
