What Do You Use For Curly Wire?

Ok, for those of you who put the wire in the tops of your cakes and it comes curling out (like Duff does), what type of wire are you using and where do you get it? I think it is such a neat look, but the wire I found the other day at the store wasn't strong enough to hold it's shape or any fondant balls on the end.

Use floral wire. It comes in different gauges so select the ones appropriate for your project. When I place the wires to the cake, I make sure they do not touch the cake so I use a piece of straw or coffee stirrer to put the wires in.

I usually use 22 or 24 gauge covered floral wire. I stick it directly in the cake (so does Colette Peters). It's easy to curl.
