If you are right handed and you are piping a border around your cake do you pipe from the right spinning your board to the right or do you start on the left side of the cake and spin the board to the left? I am right handed and have always piped from the right until my instructor had me try piping from the left. I like it from the left much better...and I can see what I am doing alot better. Your thoughts?

I never thought about that. I pipe starting at the left and working right while spinning the turntable clockwise. I don't know if thats "right" or not. I'll have to try it the other way & see what it looks like. icon_razz.gif

I do what jo_ann does. But, I've noticed that the result looks different depending on whether you start in the "front" of the cake or the "back" of the cake.

But, I will try it the opposite way, too...just to see what it's like.

Same here. I always pipe left to right....occasionally, I will turn my table counter-clockwise...but that's just if I'm feeling saucy!

Since I work in a supermarket bakery, I'm doing many cakes every day...I don't really notice that much of a difference. I try to start in the back of my cakes though if I really want perfection! (This way, if I have a few shells or beads or what not that aren't exactly even, they're in the back!)
