I know there have been posts about this, but I need to ask again. You guys are all so awesome I know you'llh ave a great idea. I found LOTS of inspiration in the galleries, but not sure any will work for me this time. I just got asked to bring a cake to our family's annual father's day cokout. There will be lots of dads there, ranging in age from 26 to 71. I had thought maybe a Harley theme, but that would definitely not work for the 71 year old! Don't want to do a tie, etc. Need something unique and impressive, for a moderate amount of skill. If it could be something on or working with a sheet cake (12x18 size), that would be a big bonus as this will be a 2 hour transport. Have never done any kind of transfers or anything. Come on cake masters!! Inspire me!! icon_razz.gif

-how about a dad on a couch holding a remote with a beer in his other hand.

- a drawn on TV screen playing "Father Knows best"

-the grill cake

-Personally, I am doing a cake for my hubby that is him mowing the lawn (using a Matchbox type lawnmower that I happened to find) with his gardens etc... It's his favorite thing to do. Some women are golf widows, I'm a lawn widow.

Have fun!

Ooooh...I like the Father Knows Best idea!

No matter what kind of hobby thing you might explore, when you're talking about a crowd, you will have some hits as well as misses. Hmmmmm...

I was going to suggest an FBCT of a favorite father-type cartoon. I'm attaching one of my faves. I saved it to do an edible image with, but it could be an FBCT just as well. Thought it was cute.

I did a grill cake and it really was a trip but other than a bit of cracking on the side, it came out great. Took me about 3 hours from cake to grill not including making the fondant food which I made 2 days before. Everyone loved it. Its in my gallery and I used the instructions in the articles on here. Good Luck.

That's why I love you guys! icon_biggrin.gif You are "unfailingly" inspiring and smart at ideas, and creative and talented. I love all of these ideas; I think the Father Knows Best idea would be really good, am going to let these simmer on the back burner for awhile. I also like the grill idea, and the tiger dad image. I have read here that WalMart will make the edible images. Has anyone done this? Thanks again...I'll take any idea from you all any day!! thumbs_up.gif

Whenever we have family gatherings, the men always congregate together. If this is true of your family, what do the men usually talk about when they're in a group? For example, in my family, it's sports usually-or their gardens (I'm Italian, go figure)

FYI and it may be different at your walmart - I just called mine and they do edible images but you have to buy the cake with it on it icon_surprised.gif - well now that just defeats my purpose!!! icon_cry.gif

Good luck - I would good for the grill myself!! thumbs_up.gif
