Dust with cornstarch and use a dry artists paintbrush to get into the intricate area's, turn the mold over and tap out any excess starch. I make a ball of fondant a bit larger than the mold then work it into all area's of the mold, lay something flat on top, like a fondant smoother and press firmly. Unmold by turning the mold over and flexing the mold, trim away any excess fondant from the design with a sharp knife.
can clean unused ceramic molds be used for Fondant molding???
hmmmmm,... Where can you get these molds?,.. I'd like to try!
Here are a few that come to mind:
Elegant Lace Molds
First Impression Molds
Sunflower Sugar Art Molds
I've gotten some from Maid of Scandia, a division of Sweet Celebrations. Had to call them for a catalog, but, who knows, you may be able to order on line by now.
Thanks, all, for your help. Just one more thing - will confectioner's sugar (yes, I do know how to spell sugar) work or no?
Luster dust sounds interesting.
If your buying/have the styrofoam kind of molds (I know they're not exactly styrofoam, they just kind of feel like it) then you don't need anything...the fondant peels right out.
But if your talking about rubber molds, like for beads, ect...then I would go with cornstarch...its a lot less sticky and just seems to work better for that kind of mold.![]()
