I have an order for a large 2 layer cake, say abt 14 inch by 14 inch square cake. The problem is that after applying the fillings, how on earth do I put the second layer on top of the other? I have no problem with small layers but not the big ones..... Is there a method on how to do it right by not breaking the cake in any way. Appreciate your kind assistance here. icon_sad.gif

hmmm.....I would use 2 pans the same size and flip them over onto each other.....course, you might need an extra set of hands.

I slide mine off the cooling rack right ontop of the bottom layer.

I would slide it off of a cookie sheet right on top of the bottom layer!

I would also chill the top layer before trying to put it on top of the bottom layer. If it's chilled, it's firmer, easier to handle and less likely to crack. Good luck!

I used the technique that mommymarilyn mentioned. Chilled my 11x15" top layer and put it on some parchment paper on a cookie sheet without a "lip" and slid it off...worked beautifully!

Helped to keep it from sticking at all by having the parchment paper.
