My 3 1/2 year old is going in to get his tonsils out at 7am tomorrow. I was really ok with it until I put him to bed and now I just want to stay in there and hug him all night! icon_cry.gif I actually went in there and laid down with him. He looked at me and asked me what I was doing! I told him I was feeling "snuggly" , he handed me his precious blankie and said "snuggle this" then rolled over! The nerve of this child! icon_surprised.gif Really though, I think I need some tonsilectomy stories that have had great outcomes right now. Anyone?

Hi Junecakes, it will be ok, don't worry so much. I had my tonsils out as an adult and I suffered a hell of a lot more than the children did, when I worked in the hospital. I did not have any children with any complications, they are a lot more resilient than adults. As a mother i can understand you worrying, but be careful, you might make your child nervous. They can pick up on your feelings. Just try and keep calm and be as normal as possible. All the best to your son

Awww...it is so hard when they are sick! No tonsil stories here, sorry, but my oldest was a preemie and in the NICU for ten days. I understand about wanting to hold and protect them, and not let go! He will be fine, and so will you!

Just take a deep breath and all will be fine - my youngest had neurosugery on her cranium at 5 months old because her saggital suture was fused too early - it was stressful but the surgeon was AWESOME!! She was released after 3 days with nothing stronger than tylenol! icon_eek.gif You will do fine!! thumbs_up.gifusaribbon.gif

Speaking from personal experience I had my tonsils out only last year. I was 31 and the sore throat afterwards was nothing to I had previously been experiencing so hopefully your son might wonder what all the fuss is about. Try not to look scared yourself or he will see it and think there is something to be frighten of. Good luck!!

My grandson had his out a few months ago (he's 4). He was home the same day and insisted he wanted to go back to school the next day. No complications or lingering pain. Your son will do great.

Thank you all for your support! He had them out this am and is sleeping comfortably? on the couch. All went very smoothly even I was as calm as a cucumber! The nurse wouldn't give me any verced though thumbsdown.gif !

I truly was fine until last night...those little nagging what if's came popping into my head and I couldn't get them to shut up! It did help to know he has the cutest guardian angel watching over him.

Doug- Thank goodness he wanted me to hold him! I don't know what I would have done had he turned me away today icon_cry.gif My guy is a chocolate lover too but the Hulk popsicles were good enough for today thumbs_up.gif

Newtodecorating- thanks for the prayer, we all need them now and then
