I think someone from here made this cake (I will find her later) and wondered how the tie is made. I think I will be making this for Father's Day and wanted to know. Do I make blue fondant and then add stripes of red fondant and then roll flat to combine? Thanks in advance.

I believe that you have it correctly. I remember reading a thread about it and I am sure that is how they did the tie.
Good luck

I think this technique would work. You just don't want the blue to show through the red. You could also probably place red and blue next to each other and attach with water.

It is found in the 1999 wilton yearbook. You place fondant side by side and roll out. Cut out the tie using the pattern. The knot is a ball of fondant covered with the stripe.

You can also go on line to Wilton.com and the instructions for the cake are there as well.

I got the link from wilton so I'm all set. I'll post it when completed. Thanks so much.
