I made these 2 cakes for this weekend. One was a 'no-notice' cake for a nephews graduation [something happended to the cake they ordered so I whipped up a 6" round 2 layer] The other is the one I've been practicing for!! We had a party for our dog's 3rd birthday... these were the first cakes I've "shown people" to announce to them that I'm beginning to decorate.

I feel like I am "getting it" in regards to smooth icing, using the dowels and not filling so much so no bulges. I have much more practice to do but I am really enjoying this. I start my Wilton Course I on June 19th!

Thanks for looking !!

You are off to a terrific start! They both look sooo smooth! The borders on Frank's cake are beautiful! The dog's cake looks better than anything I could come close too.

You're a natural!! thumbs_up.gif

Good luck to you.

Enjoy. icon_biggrin.gif

Thank you for the nice comments! I am really looking forward to the courses. I want more structure instead of randomly learning out of the course books on my own at home.

maybe you should skip to course II.
I definitely don't think you need course I.
