I saw several pictures in the gallery of cakes made to look like stacks of books. How do you make the pages side look realistic?

I once saw where they used a decorating comb. Hope that helps.

I do my books out of fondant and I use a long strip of ivory for the page sides. After it's in place, I pinch the two corners of the pages so that they're crisp and then I use the edge of a clean plastic ruler or my pizza cutter to make "pages". I just gently run the ruler or cutter back & forth a few dozen times. Depending on the look I want, I then lightly dry dust the pages with gold or tan luster dust so that the lines stand out more.
