How Much Does A 1/2 Sheet Cake Serve?

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this question.........but, how much does a 1/2 sheet serve? My chart says 72. That seems a bit much to me. Would a 1/2 sheet serve 50 people?
Thanks!
It depends on whose 1/2 sheet cake measurement you're using. There's been several discussion on sizes on this site. I consider 12x18 to be a 1/2 sheet cake. I usually tell people it serves 50, using 2x2 slices.

I put two 9x13's together to get my half sheet. So, it should serve 48....considering that a 1/4 sheet serves 24.
I consider a half sheet to be 12x18 inches. More most occasions a 2x2 piece of cake is about right, so you should be able to get 54 pieces.
72 pieces would be tiny, I think.
you have to remember that a"serving" on the chart isn't what most people think a serving is. We tend to cut larger portions than that. Just make sure your customer knows that if they plan to cut servings larger they may need to buy a larger cake. and charge them accordingly!!!!!

I consider 12x18 to be a 1/2 sheet = 54 servings of 2"x2"x2" pieces (roughly)... if you are doing it two layers, I show on my chart that you could get as many as 108 servings, but they would be 1"x2"x4"... (narrower, but taller)
I just make sure to let people know roughly what size pieces we are talking about and let them decide...2"x2"x2" is a pretty good size piece of cake.

yeah, it should. I, like mmdd, put 2 9x13's together to make a half sheet cake.
