My parent's are celebrating their anniversary this fall - I live 6 hours away...and want to try to make their cake.

Am I crazy?
I've never done this before...but love to cook, and love to play with playdoughicon_wink.gif

Thought I would do fondant over a fake cake, maybe a 2 tier?
Dowels through styrofoam, attached to the base??
Does that make sense?

Any suggestions with using yellow roses?
Fondant or gumpaste?
I'll make a sheet cake with buttercream for cutting.

(That way the fake cake can be done here at my house, and I can make the sheet cakes at their home...)

I'm thinking that practicing now is a good idea!

Thanks for any suggestions!

I would just spend hours searching the galleries for "anniversary cakes", "yellow roses" etc....sounds like a great assignment!

Fondant roses are beautiful...and you've got time to make them.

I like a round tier on top of a square tier. You could do some royal icing scroll work on the sides.

Good luck!
