I'm going to make my first whimsy cake for my son's kindergarten picnic. Their theme is Dr. Suess.

I thought I saw a cake similar with each layer decorated as a different Dr. Suess book....can't remember where though.

I would love any ideas, tips, or anything advice anyone has to offer and it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
JackieN

I think it would be adorable to have the top layer be Dr. Seuss' hat.......that would look really cool....I also like the idea of all the different books...if you're good at painting maybe you could paint some of the characters around the cake, cover it in fondant and put thing 1 and thing 2...maybe a fox on a box...you know that type of thing....all around the cakes1!!! Sounds like a really fun cake to do

I made a whimsy Dr. Seuss cake! I was actually the party planner too (My sister's college graduation party), so the cake was kind of simple, but everyone loved it. Looking back on it, I think I'd also do a dummy third tier just to balance it out, but I didn't need that much cake.

It was loads of fun! Good luck with it!

I thought I saw a cake pic somewhere that was the tall striped hat, then the fish on top, Or you could do the fishbowl on top of the hat then the fish.

There a couple really cute hats in the gallery. search under hat.

Hi Jackie! I wanted to say hello and let you know I saw your website and your cakes are fantastic! I live in Rochester, too.(Greece) In fact, I thought of "Sweet expressions" as a possible name for the bakery I hope to open one day, but you already had it. (Great minds!)

I love the pic that MommyEdzards found! It would be perfect for your son's party! Have fun! ~~Tammy

I'm sorry I don't remember where I found this cake, but I thought it was cute!

For my son's first birthday, we had a single-layer cake shaped like the hat. It was cute, but I wish I'd been more advanced and been able to do something like this one. Maybe I can talk him into Seuss for next year!
