Completed a cake today with the 76ers logo on it. Have done this logo in the past using wafer paper and food coloring pens. I discovered today that I was out of wafer paper and used an alternative, very time consuming method to recreate the design.
I actually rolled out a seperate piece of fondant. I let it dry for 30 min then used paint pens on the fondant. I then froze the design and cut it out with a scapel and applied it to the cake. Like I said, it took forever.
Result was OK, nothing to write home about. How would you recreate this logo? See attached picture.
Well I don't see the attached photo - but I use frozen buttercream transfer method for all the logos I've done. Sure beats spending 8 bucks a sheet for edible images.
For more information about the buttercream transfer, the instructions are on this site.
Ditto for me and Buttercream transfers. I've only done a couple, but have had great results...not difficult to do either.
Hi,
I just copy the pictures off and print them. Then use the pin prick method to outline every line in the picture. Lay that flat onto the frosted cake and gently rub the paper. The little pin holes will transfer onto the frosting and you can outline and fill them in. I used all Crisco buttercream so the frosting sets up nicely. Hope that helps.

Thank for all the feedback. Where can I find directions for the frozen bc transfer method? Can this method be adapted to a curved surface.
Use to do the photo images, but I don't have me own edible photo image system, so if your are in a hurry.......
If you use the pin prick method, do you leave holes in the fondant.
Seems the picture I tried to attach was too large, so let's try this again. Oh well I give up on the picture.
I enlarge the picture to the correct size with a wall projector. I trace it on paper taped onto the wall. Then I cut out the outside outline with scissior. I use a craft knife and cut all the lines to create a stencil. Press the stencil onto the buttercream. It's a lot of work, I must say. But everything comes out so accurate. I have often thought of investing in a KopyCake; but I would like to try one before I purchase it.
are the cakes you are doing with those logos for the companies?
People here talk alot about not selling character pan cakes b/c of trademark issues, but corporate logos are trademarked as well. Do you pay a license fee for the use? How did you go about getting it sorted out? (or do you just keep your fingers crossed . . . lol).
THanks for any information any of you have on this . . .
Most people just assume the logo police are not going to show up on their doorsteps. Unless you have a high profile bakery, the chances are pretty slim. One website I've seen shows licensed items, but says "Not for sale - shown to illustrate decorating skill only" or something to that effect. Pretty nifty.
On the other hand, if you're seriously worried about it, you probably shouldn't do it. It's not worth the worry and aggravation.
