So I was watching boomerang with my kids this morning before getting them off to school, which I love because it plays all the toons I loved as a kid. And they were playing the Droopy cartoon where he's a homesteader with his wife and baby, he get's attacked by the natives and makes the wagon go into a circle. Then he sets up his "prefab" house and fence out of boxes where he just throws them down and they open up and construct....antenna on top of course. Then the cow runs excitedly to the bad guy in town "MOO MOO MOO MOOO MOOOO MOO MOOO!" to tell about the new homesteaders. He comes and starts shooting everything up. Of course, Droopy pulls down the hole in the wall to reach. And then when the baby's bottle gets shot, he runs the hose out and attaches it to the cow. Anyway my fav part is when the bad guy gets in and inflates the cow through the hose and pee's the baby off and the baby walks over him and exclaims, in his best lil Droopy voice, "Ya know what, that makes me mad." Then he whips up the bad guy and it ends with him in a milk maid costume milking for the bae and he tells the poor cow, "I hate to do this to ya ma'am, but it's the laaaw of the west."

Okay that was longer than I wanted it to be, but I was wondering, what are some of y'alls favorite cartoons, old or new.

Looney Toons for me.... not the newer ones where the voices changed, or the older ones (I think from the 30's and 40's). The one's that were with Yosemite Sam, Bugs, Sylvester, Daffy, Roadrunner, etc. were and are my favorite - I think most of the cool ones were done in the 50's. I've got my kids watching those now too.

My dad will sit there with the kids and still laugh his butt off at some of those (case in point, for anyone who has seen it: episode with Daffy Duck as Robin Hood and Porky as Little John.... "YOIKS and awaaaaaaay") .... hysterical, if you're into that sorta humor icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I like boomerang too, I hate the new cartoons and won't let my kids watch them.
I like Looney Tunes, the Snorks, Smurfs, etc.

My kids think I'm mean though because we canceled the TV for at least the summer so they can't watch it anymore. I've tried telling them that it wasn't worth it for the twice a month they were watching it.

I love, love, love that episode suttle! And the snorks and the smurfs were always my some of my favorites. Though my DH did recently address how cheesey the Snorks theme song is. "Swim along with the snorks...."

Hey, anyone remember....
"Billy boy boy boy boy....."

yes, I love Boomerang also icon_biggrin.gif and I always loved the Pink Panther as a kid...

I like a couple of the new cartoons for kids. Danny Phantom isn't bad and I'm always willing to let them watch the learning shows like what are on PBS kids or NickJr/Noggin.

I just have to be careful with the Nick shows because the other shows come on later such as Camp Laslo, Grimm whatever (my least favorite) or the imaginary friends one...Such bad examples of behavioral attitudes for kids to be picking up!

Some Disney shows aren't bad but then Power Rangers and such comes on later and I don't like them watching that much. They always seem to want to emulate the kung foo moves and that gets bad. Plus, it's dorky. icon_rolleyes.gif

sarahnichole - you look about as cute as a button (assuming the avatar is you).

That said, I love the old school of road runner, bugs bunny. never a Micky fan. I also love some of the outdated new school of Hey Arnold and a few of those. The kids love ANIME! And all I can say is OMG. That junk sucks prune juice. I keep trying to intruduce Flinstones and Jetsons, but they arent going for it.

My favorite cartoons when I was young were Shirt Tales, Snorks, Smurfs, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Belle & Sebastian, The Littles, Muppet Babies, and I especially loved Tom and Jerry.

A little off-topic, but my favorite non-cartoon shows were Sesame Street, The Electric Company, Fraggle Rock, The Muppets, and You Can't Do That On Television (my ALL-TIME favorite show!!!!!).

Aww, thanks Lana! It's me with my cheesiest of smiles. We have girls night in once a month, and that was from our recent PJ party, hence the bows in my hair.

I love road runner, but always find myself feeling really bad for the the coyote. My kids like a lot of the new stuff too, Avatar for one, which I actually like myself, but they love old Tom and Jerry and Popeye!

And Jess, yours are like a walk through memory lane. Those were totally my Saturday morning lineup. I remember when my grandparents got a 2nd tv and my brother and I didn't have to take turns anymore. Fraggle Rock and You Can't Do That on Television were totally awesome, but we only got to see them when visiting mom....she had cable....

My favorite non cartoon show was The Muppets!

The two old guys in the balcony always cracked me up... It's amazing they got away with what they said from time to time - even for a kids show!

Does anyone know if the Muppet show even airs anymore. I have Tivo and would love to watch some of the old re-runs!

My favorite cartoon shows were the old Jestons, Flintstones and Tom & Jerry (50's). My Mum would cringe every time my sister and I would ask... "Are we there yet Mama Smurf!"

I don't have any kids, so I'm not hip on the newer cartoons. Although the ones I have watched in the past, do not impress me much.

I miss my Tivo. It broke and we got DVR through cable co. I wished I would have just got a new Tivo.

You can type in The Muppets and if it is ever on it will record it.

I typed in Mae West once so I could catch her movies. One day I saw Mister Ed recorded and I'm saying "what?". I looked at it and it recorded because Mae West was a guest star. Now, is that cool or what?

I remember Capt Kangaroo, and I know that for a long time he was my favorite when I was little, but I cannot ever remember details from the show. And I still get to watch Mr. Rogers, thanks to my kiddo's. But as much as I get totally sucked into it and always find myself zoned, I still don't get it!!!

Ooh ... I loved Captain Kangaroo, too. I'm the same way, though ... I don't remember much about it but I know I watched it a lot. I remember a Mr. Greenjeans from the show. That reminds me of another show that I loved ... Romper Room!!! icon_biggrin.gif I remember watching Mr. Rogers a lot, too ... although the Land of Make Believe (or whatever it was called) always creeped me out a little bit!! icon_lol.gif
