Okay...I know if there is help to be found, it is here. I am doing a wedding cake next month. The groom is an architect and very anal about the cake. He wants a specific type of column called Doric columns. Mind you these are found in architecture, NOT cake supply stores...that I know of at least! I told the bride I would do my best, and she said his main request is that they not be fluted. Almost all of the pillars I have seen are fluted. They don't want those pearly short pillars from Wilton either. Can anyone PLEASE help?
See? And I was expecting more of a challenge with these pillars! I looked them up online (http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=doric+column)
and they look JUST like bakery craft's standard single-plate-system pillars as seen here https://www.bakerycrafts.com/Items.aspx?np=10380,10423,10437&PageNumber=0
(Item # gc-9s and gc-10s)
I like the multi piece sets. It is a 5" pillar with two 2" extension pieces which makes is a 5, 7, and 9" pillar all in one. Their "original style" is 9" long and you have to cut it down if you want it smaller, which is difficult.
oh my gosh...thank you sooooooooooo much Kory!!! Maybe I won't have to kill the groom now! ![]()
I googled Doric columns and fficial%26hs%3DJtJ%26sa%3DX" target="_blank" class="postlink">here is what I found.
KoryAK's suggestion of the Bakery Craft pillars with the collar on top will look very much like a Doric column imho.
