Ugliest Cake In The World...where's My Prize?

I think everyone has had bad experiences at one time or another. I remember I tried to make my mom's carrot cake recipe one time. It would come out clean when you interted the toothpick but when you went to take it out of the pan the whole bottom of it was like pudding. My husband called it carrot pudding! Then every time I told him I would be making it, he would sneer! I finally showed him I could make it!! Its one of his favorites!
I like the Mother-in-law idea. All though you would have to add some ingredients too it.....exlax comes to mind!!
You are absolutely right...that is one ugly cake. It actually looks like someone threw up on it or the stuff we pull out of peoples stomachs inthe ICU
When i was about 8 or 9 ( 45 years ago) made a cake for my mom for her birthday. I mixed all kinds of colors together and it ended up being this dark grayish teal color. We actually had melamine plates that matched the color of the icing. I think then when I took it off the refrigerator I dropped it on my brothers head by accident. Wow. ..45 yrs sounds like a long time ago ....guess it is....don't think they had cake mixes back then...oh my aching dinosaur bones..
Wow! You said it was ugly. I'm still laughing. It just reminded me though of one girl in my first cake deco class. For the final cake she wanted to get rid of all of her icing so she mixed everything together. Her cake was so funny. It looked like a pile of cement. We all had a good laugh that night.
I am pulling myself off the floor! Now, I have made some ugly cakes, so I can say to you "bless your heart, that is a homely cake."
Thank you so much for sharing this picture! You have given me inspiration for my MIL
hahahahhaaaa....nah I actually like her, but she is not a cake fan!!! I know, crazy. And I don't trust those that don't like cake. Just something unnatural about those people!
So, I think it would be hilarious to give her a cake like this...
Well....if she is not a cake fan, this is just the kind of cake she deserves! I can't wait to post my first messy cake. Thank you for sharing.
OMG thank you, that is so funny - we all have had such moments but I don't think we have the guts to share them.
MIL is a keeper, very good sport.
Very pretty (note sarcasm)! I've actually come up with the exact same color. The good news was that when I made my son's camo cake a couple months later, I knew exactly how to get a good camo green. There is always a silver lining.
Wow. That is ugly. But Im sure it tasted wonderful. Hey, It's the thought that counts, right?
Thank you so much for sharing-I haven't laughed so much at a thread since the "post your ugliest cake" thread. I love the comment about making this one an olive. It would be perfect. Your family will have something to laugh about for years. Better to keep them laughing with you....LOL
LOL, you should have put some little hand and foot prints and her name!!! Lucky she's a good sport. And it does sound delicious
That's such a GREAT idea!!!
If you only KNEW some of my disasters!! It sounds fantastic, wouldn't mind that recipe! BTW--I have to remember how to get that cement color when I need it for roads!
I wish I could have given it for the MIL I had a couple of years ago... She had it comming.... ROFL
I have to agree it sounds delicious but looks kinda yucky. Fortunately I have a wonderful mil who would laugh with me over something like this. Just think, you cheered up a bunch of cakers by sharing this pic! I apprecuiate your sense of humor. Okay, no mixing colors for me!!
Recipe: This was the Hazelnut cake and filling from the Whimsical BakeHouse book. Very delicious and worth it to buy the book.
My favorite cake of ALL TIME though is their Chocolate Butter cake. People have told me that it's the best chocolate cake they've ever tasted. I would have to agree; I could just eat the batter, it's so good.
Steph
I thought this has to be a funny....I have to say it's a very interesting ummmmmmmm creation that you have accomplished. Very ummmmmmmm different.
I have mixed colors too, as grandma said "trial and error". That's what's great about being creative.
Patricia
we have all made a cake so ugly we were embarassed to serve it.
I boldly wrote on my little lop-sided beauty " Don't look at it, just eat it"
My kids still bring it up to this day.
thanks for sharing, you are braver than I

Couldn't help but to add my two cents.
It looks like your cake had a really bad day.
The posts on this topic are wicked funny. You all know how to keep someone in stitches laughing. I love it.
Looks a little moldy. haha Thanks for the laugh.
That's exactly what I was thinking!!! HA HA HA HA!!!! But I'll agree with everyone else...it is horrible, you are brave, and it does sound delish! Thanks for the laugh, I needed it this morning!
