When stacking book cakes do you have to use cakeboards and dowel rods or just dowel rods? I have to make a big book with a smaller book on top and on top of the smaller cake a graduation cap. So there will be 3 cakes in all. (not sure of the sizes yet)

thanks

Definately use the cake boards along with the dowels. thumbs_up.gif

dowels are pointless without a board, they will just sink into cake.

I think I've finally figured out why my layers still seem to sag a bit after a while. I think that I need to use two layers of cardboard between layers instead of one for stiffness, and I also think I need to wrap the cardboard in plastic wrap before whatever else I use, because I think they're getting moist and a bit flimsy that way, too.

I guess the other possibility is to use foam board.

Either way, I just wanted to give you a heads-up that this can be a problem. Good luck! icon_smile.gif
