Mortar Board Cap- Do U Have To Prep Board First B4 Fondant??
Decorating By elvis Updated 8 May 2007 , 3:13pm by elvis
Okay, trying to do the grad cap-- I covered the 8" square cake board with fondant on both sides but there seems to be some air pockets and sagging going on-- b/c the fondant doesn't adhere to the board.
Will this fix itself as it dries? Or was I supposed to prep the board with something first? Thanks for any help!!
You have to cover the board first as though it would have a cake on it. Then you have to brush piping gel (corn syrup would work too) on the board. Then you put the fondant on the board and start smoothing from the inside to the outside.
I'm sorry, but I don't think your board will work without redoing it. I guess you could try lifting a corner and squirting some piping gel in there.
Good luck!
