The only thing I have ever used is MMF. Is that the best fondant to use?
I do like the taste of it. icon_biggrin.gif What about satin ice I have never used that.
Does it work better then MMF? If so does anyone have a recipe for Satin Ice?

Thanks for your help

I don't know that they would make their recipe available - you usually buy Satin Ice! I really like to use it because I don't have to make it and it tastes good!

I was just going to post this question! (I guess great minds do think alike...) I have several cakes coming up and rather than hassle with MMF (which I love too) I wondered if Satin Ice tastes good. Anyone out there use it?!?!

I have tried Satinice and Pettinice and love them both. If you order a case of Satinice from www.satinfinefoods.com each 5lb bucket comes out to be about $17 including shipping (to my house, shipping will vary by destination). You can mix and match flavors and color combos in the case and it consists of 8x5lb buckets. If this quantity is too much and you know other decoraters you can go in on it together.

I have only used MMF but I like that it is so cheap to use and I think it is pretty easy to make. Worth the savings for me!

I like the taste of Satin Ice, it is just a tad sweeter than MMF to my tastebuds anyway. I bought some white to try it and then I bought 2lbs each of red and black, so I don't have to make it. They taste good too.

I have tried Satin Ice and it is very good. I think that it tastes better than MMF but I I like that MMF is so cheap, quick and easy to make plus if you add the color to the melted marshmallows instead of trying to knead it in after it is done or like you would have to with Satin Ice it sooo much easier.

I tried making MMF twice and failed miserably. I buy Satin Ice. Just got back from the supply store a little bit ago. Love it! I put it on all of my cookies.

I like MMF because I can control the sweetness and taste. If I buy fondant I buy Satin Ice.The only thing I don't like about it is it's a little too sweet for me.

I like the MMF - cheap and easy to make and tastes good, too. I recently used satin ice for the first time. I thought it was a little pricey (for me) and the two tubs I bought smelled just like play doh when I opened them. I covered my cake with it and several hours later it still had a strong smell reminiscent of play doh. (I guess kids would love that!) I tasted it and it was definitely better than the icky Wilton fondant, but I wasn't crazy about it.

I was just about to post a similar question asking how you handle the reactions to the taste of fondant from customers. I LOVE the way fondant covered cakes look, but I just hesitate to to make a fondant-covered cake for others for fear of the "ick" reaction to the taste. Do any of you get that response, or for the most part, do your customers like the taste of fondant? Thanks for your advice! icon_smile.gif

I never have a problem with people liking the fondant.
Everyone loves my fondant.
When I am mixing the fondant I add a little vanilla flavoring and
a little almond flavoring. I really think the flavoring makes it taste really good.

Hope that helps

Ladybug21597, thanks for the flavoring tip. I hadn't done that yet, but will try it with the next batch of MMF. I'm glad to see that you haven't had any negative responses to the taste of the fondant. Thanks!
