Hello Ladies & Gents -

I have a question about drying my Gumpaste/Fondant flowers and 3D figures.

Mother nature is being very fussy this Spring. Can I use my dehydrator to speed up the drying of my Gumpaste/Fondant creations?

I made some flowers about a week and half ago and they are still bending and not very hard. I have been using a 50/50% mixture. Should I play with the combo a little more? or should I scratch the combo and use straight gumpaste?

My goal is to make a pretty large lighthouse and I'm wondering how much time I will need for drying each section. I do not have the dimensions yet which I'm sure will help with my question, but any advice you can give will help me from scratching the whole project! icon_confused.gif

I think I'd do it all gumpaste just to make sure. icon_smile.gif

When I first went to live in Hawaii, I had the worst time with humidity. With the help of a lot of CCers & trial & error, I have now got it right.
Yes, you can use your dehydrator. You can use a mix fondant/gumpaste, but add tylose & extra hold fixodent powder to it. You can store finished items in a airtight container with silica sachets to keep them dry. PM me if you want to know anything else.

I had a problem with some drying and I am in Florida. It turns out it was the type of gumpaste I was using. I swicthed to using the Wilton gumpaste mix and making my own. I haven't had a problem but I do use all gumpaste too.
