I need to make cupcakes with a rounded top, how full would they need to be to bake up rounded? Usually mine come up a little under the top of the liner.

1/2 way full will give you the more flat look. If you want it rounded fill your liners 2/3rds full. icon_smile.gif

I don't think cupcakes really round. The more you fill them they just spread out like caps. You can get the rounded look with icing.

I have heard that when you first put them in if the oven is a little hotter than normal and about 5 minutes after baking turn down to normal baking temp will give muffins a rounded top. I think that this would work for cupcakes too!

I don't know if this is right or not, but in my limited experience with cupcakes, I've found that the lighter mixes, if filled as Texassugar stated, about 2/3 full inside the patty pan, then they tend to round out nicely, the heavier mixes, such as the mudcake I usually make, tend to bake fairly flat.

I tried a recipe recently from the Whimsical Bakehouse cookbook, it was for vanilla cupcakes and they were very round on the top.

I can send you some details if you would like to PM me.

Thanks so much for the help. I guess I don't really need them round, just with a little hump on the top.
