I have been wanting to attempt a bc frozen transfer. Does anyone have any pictures or suggestions for a first attempt. I searched through some of the coloring pages but nothing seems right, or easy icon_lol.gif ! I am a serious beginner with high hopes ..... LOL

Google "coloring pages" and a category if you wish.

Or just draw a simple picture yourself since it is just to try it out!

if you want to do something just nice and easy trace a cookie cutter, just basic shapes and get practicing with that. Its really not hard to do.

I think I'll try that on the weekend on cupcakes. Should be easier if I start small right icon_rolleyes.gif

I did our local college logo. It was way too detailed for a first attempt, but it came out nice and bolstered my confidence. Maybe there's a team in your area that has a simple letter or something else not too complicated. I wanted my daughter to take my cake to her boyfriend's house, so others would eat it (and not me!) - the strategy worked. If I'd done a cartoon or something cute...it probably would have stayed right here. LOL!

hiya hynest and welcome to cake central
I have a couple pics of fbct's on my pics the eagle and the kitty
take a look they were both drawn on paper freehand first and then i put a piece of parchment over the drawing taped it down real good on the sides there. drew the outline in black and filled in the inside like i would a coloring book page. made sure that the whole thing had the same amount of frosting all around and froze em.
took em out of the freezer cut the tape where i had taped the parchment flipped the image onto the cake and peeled off the parchment and did any repairs that were necessary. I also put a piece of parchment on the image after i have filled it and then smooth it best i can on the back before i freeze it.
The eagle was my first and it was huge bout the size of a half sheet cake it was.

I just did my first transfer. I want to encourage you that it's not half as hard as it seems. If you look in my photos you can see them. It was really scary but it was soo easy and they came out great.

Hi Hynest
I just did my second BCT this weekend it was Barney it was pretty easy I found Barney coloring pages online ( you can sometimes find big pic coloring books at like Wal-Mart or dollar store..) and picked a big pic not to detailed and resized it to fit a round cake. I used plastic wrap and it worked GREAT!!!!!!( the first one I used waxpaper and some of it stuck I also used all Crisco DON"T do this use a half butter half Crisco..)

To make BCT

1. Tape pic ( start with small pic..) on a cutting board ( I use a round or square cake board..)

2. Tape plastic wrap over pic ,you will have too strech the paper till it is smooth and no wrinkles.

3.Than go back to being a kid and start tracing the pic outlines ( Remember slow and steady wins the race, take your time.)

4.Now fill in the inside using a round tip you will have to guess about what size to use to the size of pic and the spaces you can start out big and go smaller...

5. You will need to push the icing so it touches the outlines. take your finger and put it lightly in cornstarch than lightly press the icing so it fills in all the spaces.

6. Now I don't know why you do this part but I do it anyway take the icing that is the color of your cake cover the whole back of BCT. I don't try too spread it with spat I do the same as above with the cornstarch.

7. Put transfer in freezer, now if yours freezes good 30 min if not so good a hour or hour 1/2.

8. Take out and slowly turn over onto cake. ( this is where I got in trouble again with my 1st BCT it was so big it wanted to crack so start with a small BCT.)

Hope this helps P.S. what pic are wanting to do??

Here is my 1st BCT pic blurry will post better pic soon

Thnaks so much for all your tips and pictures! icon_biggrin.gif I tried a simple transfer on the weekend and it was horrible. I did "Good Luck" in bubble letters and it all stuck to the wax paper. The couple of balloons I had done turned out ok - but that was it icon_cry.gif . I am wondering where I went wrong. First i did use half crisco - which was probably mistake #1. I also tried to make the outline very thin ...... maybe too thin - was that mistake #2 ? I let it freeze about 3 hours - it looked great from the underside, but when I Was mistake 3 not letting it freeze longer and use plastic wrap ? icon_redface.gif
I am gonna try again this weekend with the ladybug pic or Ernie. The kids finished up the cake last not so I could start on the next one. We are gonna gain a tonne of weight before I get it right icon_lol.gif
