Do you get a lot of requests for Lambeth cakes? Or is it just a technique you want to learn?
I don't get a lot of requests, it's just a beautiful method that I'd love to master. and if you can do Lambeth you can do just about anything - it's very tedious and difficult.
The Lambeth Method is a overpiping method developed by Joseph Lambeth at the beginning of the 20th century. The book I got is the 2nd edition and it was published in 1938, to give you an example.
I have uploaded a picture I scanned from the book to give an example of how beautiful the cakes are that are done in the Lambeth method.

I would love for piping to make a comeback. To me piping is truly the original style of cake decorating. I love it.
It's odd that piping is "out of style," yet whenever I do a cake with a lot of piping on it, people just rave about it. I don't do anywhere NEAR as much piping as the Lembeth method, of course...but sometimes I do more than you usually see. So, maybe people are just waiting for you to revive it! ![]()
