I have a neighborhood function this Saturday, which is also my dd 4th b-day. I will be making about 120 cupcakes for my friends and neighbors who know I do cakes but have never ordered any from me. I want to make something easy becuase there will be so many (my first attempt at this many) but I also want them to be fabulous!!

I was looking at the rosette flower ones on the Wilton website. They are cute but are they FABULOUS? and will they take forever? here's what I am talking about:
http://www.cupcakefun.com/ideas/abloomingtreat.cfm

I also thought about doing the melting candy letters on them to spell out something but with 120 that is a lot to say! beacuse you know the kids will all want a letter on theirs

I never made a cupcake cake or cupcake bouguet. I love the ideas but I have never made either and I have other cake projects the same day so I'm afraid to try something new for this.

I tried to search here for cupcake ideas but only a couple came up?

Please help - I need EASY and FABULOUS. thumbs_up.gif

TIA

Since you have to do so many, why don't you do several different ones. The ones you like are cute. I also like the...

Flower Power

Party Bug

There are several I think are awesome on this website

I like the tye-dye, lion and the lamb, and fish food, mostly all of them but I think these would be a little easier since you have so many to do. HTH.

Why don't you do a Large rosette on each cupcake! Then you can airbrush them all different colors to make it easy! I did the cupcake bouquet technique in my photos if you'd like to see. Then that way everyone gets a flower!

Good luck with ideas! icon_biggrin.gif

IMHO, I would do different cupcakes since you are doing so many. They are all cute if you do 140 of the same, but say Fabulous when you do different ones. Fraggle suggested a lot of cute ideas. It will be much easier if you try to stay to the same colors so you don't have to have so many icing bags, just put in a coupler to make the tip changing faster.

Good luck.

How about roses on each cupcake? Large daisies. Faux flowers. Animals? Have made many critters on cupcakes. The world on a cupcake? Have fun.

UPDATE - hey everyone, I wanted to post a follow up to let you know how my cupcakes turned out. I wish I could post a picture but if you saw my earlier post I can not figure out how to make my photos small enough to upload here.

Anyway, I was very tired when the day rolled around to do the cupcakes but I think they still turned out cute. I was planning to do one I found on the link that NewbeeBaker suggested. I also took ChrisJ's advise adn did several designs. (which is what I think they were most impressed with) THanks to you both. Mine were not as cute as the Wilton ones but I used the same colors and a combo of minis and regular size. They were cute but not fabulous - sighhh, although I was happy with them.

The good news is I did impress a few. The kids snatched them up so fast a lot of adults did not see them but the few that did made very positive comments. One even said, "Oh I'll have to keep you in mind for the kids birthdays, these are so cute." So buttom line is I guess I accomplished the goal to impress.

thanks to you all for the input! thumbs_up.gif
