Ok My creative genus friends.... How should i make a Barbie cake... using the wondermold for 50 plus people? Should i put it on a sheet cake??? It's for my daughter on her 4th birthday.

I'm not sure if 4 doll cakes would be excessive... She is spoiled but i don't want to shove it in peoples faces. BUt i want it to be really cool because i love this special little one princess.gif

thanks all

The top diameter of the Wonder Mold pan is 8 inches across. If you fill the pan enough to bake it to the very top, you can then stack 9" round and 10" round tiers underneath with boards and dowels, and carve the sides to continue the skirt of the cake. That should give you more than enough cake for 50.

or it might be really cool to make sort of a tiered type thing....with the slightly larger rounds under her maybe one layer of each instead of the normal two and make like stairs leading up with barbie on top.......or if you do it on a sheet cake maybe you could put her off to one side and then do something on the other side to fit the theme........like cindarella? chair with pillow and glass slipper......you know........or is it a regular barbie??? if so...why not do something like that......I'm sure I could give you more ideas if I understood exactlly what kind of a look you're going for??

How many people does the wonder mold pan serve? What about a cinderella with wondermold pan and a carriage out of the sports ball pan.

OK so how is that resting on the rounds? I was thinking stacked but if it's not stable forget it... Very pretty cake.

Great question. As a newbie to baking, that cakes seems way too scary for me to even consider. Do you have a cake board on top of the bottom that the barbie cake sits on? When you get ready to cut the cake (which if it were my cake, no one would touch! icon_lol.gif ) do you lift the barbie cake off the bottom? This is all new to me. dunce.gif

I have two in my photos that would feed that many, the first is the Princess and Frog Prince one, it was done with the mini wonder mold but the style could easily be adjusted to suit a regular barbie. The other is the tiered Fairy Princess Cake, the bottom tier is a dummy but could easily be real. I used cake boards and rubber maid straws between the tiers and the stability was great. I also had boards between the castle and cake on the first one, I had a board under the little princess but it was light enough not to need any straws or dowels.

Hope this helps can't wait to see what you come up with !!!

You could just put a doll cake on top of a 12x18 cake. The 12x18 feeds 36 or more; plus the doll feeds another 12. If you are worried, you could make two 11x15 cakes and make them a layer cake with a doll on top. Here's a pic of a doll on top of a 12x18 which I made.
