My sons 3rd birthday is coming up and I saw all the cute 3D truck cakes on this site. I have never made a 3D cake, so I was wondering if anyone would help and give me some directions on how to do one??!? Also, I've never worked with fondant either, so any advise with that would also help.
Thanks!!!!

familyfun.com has directions for a 3-d firetruck that you can modify.

I haven't made a truck but I have made a Firetruck and Monster truck. If I suggest maybe doing it with stars for your first time as fondant can be very tricky to work with especially on 3D cakes.Check out my firetruck and monster truck. The best advice I can give is take your time, map out the details.Cut out the cakes when they are cold as they are easier to work with.Maybe have a specific design on paper or a picture...this really helps.
