I am doing a large cake for a father/daughter dance with a red carpet theme. I wanted to add the poles and rope along the carpet. I am not sure what to use for the rope. I am making the poles out of fondant which will be gilded when set. Also, what do you suggest for attaching the ropes to the poles.

Thanks for your help. The cake is due on Friday. Don't you just love last minute orders icon_biggrin.gif

Make fondant ropes? Just cut a thin strip and roll it on your counter till it's the thickness you want. Then brush some CLEAR vanilla on where you want it stick, like glue. Can you attach the ropes to the posts before you put the posts on their bases so you don't have to worry about gravity pulling it down too much?
