Hi everyone...I have decided to attempt the Spiderman bust cake and rather than having to try and get red icing I thought it would be easier to use the spray (I don't have an airbrush). I was just wondering if anyone has tried the Wilton Color Spray in red and if it would give me the effect I am looking for. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I've used it and it makes a nice red but if you touch or smudge the icing you'll see the white under it. I now use the super red americolor. It works great.

I used it over the weekend. I had trouble with it running/bleeding. I used it over a stencil of the American flag. It bled even though I had pushed down my stencil so it couldn't get under it. Maybe try shaking it more before applying. Good luck.

I had the same idea about a cake I did this past weekend, except I used the black spray. It was awful!!! It actually sprays purple and is very runny-If the red is anything like the black, it will not give you the color you want-especially if you are spraying on white icing.

Americolor red is so much better than the wilton red. You use so much less dye in my experience with the Americolor.

I have used the spray cans (not wilton) and found that if the cake moved and the frosting creases or cracks, then it really shows.
