Would This Cupcake/frosting Combination Work?

I'm making cupcakes for our school's Teacher Appreciation Week. "Beach" is going to be the theme. I want to make cupcakes that are half "sand" half "water." If I made coconut cupcakes with almond buttercream, does that sound good? I had thought about making lime buttercream, but thought it would be weird to have a lime flavor with blue coloring.
