to come to my house and bake my cakes this week and next week!!!

So who's up for it?? I'm going crazy!! I have 19 cakes due this week, a couple of birthday cakes, retirement cake and the rest are graduation cakes, oh yeah, cream cheese mints, too!!!

Why did I ever think I could handle this?? My "real" job is being a realtor and it's so incredibly busy right now. I show houses, come home, bake, show houses, come home, decorate, bake, decorate, show houses, bake, bake, decorate....it NEVER ends!!! I am pretty sure that after the next two weeks I won't want to see any more cakes, cookies or any sweets. The next week I have 100 cookies on a stick, 8 graduation cakes, 2 dozen brownies and 2 dozen lemon bars.

Who wants to move in?

I'm done whining and complaining now. Thanks and have a good night!!

Well I know you aren't that far, but I don't think I would be that much help by the time I did the driving after work and then back home so I could still work the next day =(

But i'll be thinking about you! Unless you want me to bake here and deliver to you?

I know melvira is out there somewhere... maybe we can talk her into it too!

I am tired just reading your list!! We always seem to be able to do it somehow! Sorry, but I am too far away to help! I would love to come to Iowa and visit though!
Keep your chin up and the coffee going! You'll do great!

That is one reason I am so scared to start my own business-because once everyone learns about me, I afraid I'll have cakes and orders running out of my ears! Then, I would probably get someone's order mixed up with someone else's, put the wrong decorations on the right cake, or the right decorations on the wrong cake, get some kind of order I have never done, etc., etc.
We went to eat at a very small BBQ "restaurant" (quotes because it only has 2 tables) here in town tonight and I thought about maybe asking if I could do my business along with theirs using their kitchen. I was thinking about it the whole time I was eating saying to myself, I would have to have lots of flowers ready, cakes ready and iced, make it "perfect" the way the customer wants it, etc., so it scared me and I didn't ask about using the kitchen. I mentioned it to my husband and he asked the lady if she was the owner, but she wasn't. The owner is with the furniture store next door to the BBQ place. I'm just very afraid to put my foot out there I guess. I just started cake decorating back in August so I am still very much an amateur at this.

I am pacing myself. Luckily the birthday cakes aren't too terribly involved. The retirement cake can be whatever the heck I want it to be so it may end up being a sheet cake. I'm all about simplifying this week!!

The plan right now it to bake all of the cakes Tuesday and Wednesday and to decorate Thursday and Friday. My goal is to be done Friday night and not too late. I'm also the president of the preschool board in my community and we have graduation Saturday morning. I of course have to be there and say a speech. I'm pretty sure they don't want me snoring in the microphone icon_biggrin.gif

Cassie2500 - think LONG and HARD about things before you take the jump!! I haven't done any advertising, only word of mouth and I have this many orders. I've thought quite a bit about taking a bigger step but then I have weeks like this come along and I quickly come back to my senses!

Thank goodness the cream cheese mints are for my cousin's reception. She doesn't mind that my almost 8 year old daughter is becoming quite the pro at making them!!

I wish I lived closer - I'd love to spend a few days baking with a friend!

Anyone else ever notice that this deal can be very solitary? I'm always baking/decorating alone after everyone has gone to bed!

Although one afternoon my 5 year actually sat with me while I stared a checkerboard around an entire cake for a Cars cake - he was sooo cute! Mommy you are almost done! icon_smile.gif

Well good luck - you will get through it!

I know exactly what you mean! This is often the only time I can get things done, Then you think about everyone else in bed asleep! I have 2 kids myself, 9 and 3, and they both love to help. It's great when my daughter helps. She has taken every class with me. I also watch my nephew everyday that is 3 1/2. He and my son together are a little too much help! They just want tastes of the icing! Right back to late night's it is icon_cool.gif

I'm done with what turned into 20 cakes. I'm so proud of myself. I paced myself and things went very well with minimal stress.

Now for next week!!

NVP - have you seen the cupcake bouquets on here recently? If you are getting together with family, I think you should make some of those, they will be very impressed and you are sure to get some orders!! It sounds like they are selling like hot cakes!! No pun intended icon_smile.gif

WOW! You are amazing- and you did it- when you stand at the starting line, it seems incredibly overwhelming, but then you get into momentum and you've done this so many times, you have a routine down and you can handle it and now you're done and ready for round 2 lol.

always nice when you have someone to pitch in amidst all the craziness.

I guess in a way I feel lucky though that I live alone, because if I get swamped, I can let some things go (like not having to cook dinner for a family lol, or let laundry or bed making etc go lol).

So well you're done but in spirit I would have offered to help-to make your load lighter- (would be a tight squeeze in between 3 jobs and getting business set up and taking wilton course LOL)

thumbs up to you for getting through the week with bells on! thumbs_up.gif

Finally, the weekend is over thumbs_up.gif I ended making 23 cakes, but I did not clean the house and washed the clothes, so I guess tomorrow after work, I need to start doing it. This is one of the three milk cakes that I did
