Hi! I hope I have not bitten off more than I can chew, but I volunteered to make this cake for my Son's orchestra picnic for his high school. They have 30 kids in orchestra. I am NEW at this.

I want to do a square cake, how big should I do it, and any ideas??? Thank you for all the help!!!!

A 12x18 (half sheet) cake will serve 54 (2"x2") pieces. A 14" square could serve 49 (2"x2") pieces. I would guess that there will be some parents there and perhaps other guests. You will need to decide just how big the servings need to be. At a picnic, there will be a lot of other food. So the servings could be small, especially if there is ice cream (like those little premeasured cups you can get at the grocery store) to go with it. Sounds like fun!
Good Luck! thumbs_up.gif

Hi,
Make a half sheet cake...
I have made a Violin out of Fondant/Gum paste..look in the Gallery under
"musical Instruments" or just "Instruments".. My Violin is White. You can do that, then with "notes" next to it. icon_smile.gif

Here's a cake I did for a school band. It kind of ties in the instruments without having to draw them all!
