I need to make the color tan.... Well a color for a straw hat. I'm making a sombrero with purple and lemon yellow accents..... Need a base color for the hat. HELP PLEASE> I'm mixing right now.

I think I need a tint of yellow too. But do ya think golden yellow and brown together in small amounts? This cake means a lot to me as it is for someone very special so I don't want to make a mistake.

to increase the realism, I'd consider using two or three tones of yellow and tan in the icing bag (Straw has tones) and when you pipe (you are doing some sort of basketweave effect, I guess?) it will come out with subtle tones and highlights

I would start with a small amount of brown and mix well before trying to add anything else. Then probably a tiny bit of yellow to get a tanner look. I think any yellow would work because I don't think you'll want much.

Wilton has a cake that has a sombrero on it. They say to use yellow with a bit of ivory mixed in.
