I'm considering buying a KA mixer and just wanted to get some recommendations off those who have them already! They are quite expensive in Australia, as they have to be adapted to work here, plus freight and taxes, etc. (AU$695 just for the base model!) I mostly just need it for cake mixes and buttercream, so would the KSM150 be adequate? I haven't made my own fondant to date, but it is an option in the future. Is there any advantage having the lift up bowl??? Any other info I need to know? Thanks!

I have the Kitchen Aid-6 qt-Pro and LOVE it! It is a great investment.

I am partial to the models with the tilt head. With the lift up bowl, you have to remove the paddles before removing the bowl and that can get messy (that may just be me though).

So while I like the capacity and power of the 6qt pro model, I would get the 5qt one with tilt head.

I also very much prefer the KA's with the tilt head. Mine are both the 5-qt. Artisans. My dream KA would be a 7, 8, or even 10-qt. model with a TILT HEAD. Come on, Kitchenaid!!! icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks guys, it's great to hear what works best for you. Does anyone else have any advice on what's good or bad about the different models???

I love the lift bowl! I think it all comes down to what you like really.
