What I like about this video is that the camera shows how far away the fondant is stretched from the sides of the cake before smoothing it down. I think that is the real clue for getting the fondant smoothed without having any pleats or folds in it. Pulling it out as far as you can without tearing it smooths out any wrinkles before you ever try smoothing or rubbing it against the sides. You have to practice this because if you pull it too far away it puts stress on the top edges and it will tear.

You are so right about that. I love how she went slow and explained as much as she could. I almost always have a tough time with my fondant tearing at the edges. I think I roll it too thin.
