I've never made the flip flop cakes but I think they are just carved out of a sheet cake. For the teapot cake I used the sports ball pan!

Someone else on here would definately be better at giving directions for making the cakes!!!!!

Good luck with them!

not sure on the flip flop cake, but I used the ball pan for my teapot cake that I made. You can see it in my photos. then I used white choc. for spout and a pretzel for handle. You could use fondant for this but I did not want to work with it at the time. Good luck.

I made my first teapot this weekend, using the sports ball pan. The two lessone I learned are: 1. use a fairly dense cake so that it holds it's shape and supports ornaments; and, 2. if using fondant be careful how heavy your spout is...mine fell off twice and I ultimately had to prop it up on a royal icing flower. No one would have known, but I was glad it was a cake for my MIL and not for a customer where it would have been out of my control...Have fun!

This is one of mine, if you want the directions, just pm me and I will get them to you. I make them all the time. One of the big secrets to making a suceessful one is to not make the spout and handle too large for the cake - use a dense cake (pound cake) and I make the spout and handle out of gumpaste a few days before I bake and assemble the cake.

There is one that is breathtaking in the galleries - looks like real Royal Albert china - I can't remember who did it, do a search and it will bring it up - it looks like it is real china!

For the flip flops I made a template using my daughters flip flops and laminated it. Wrote left on one side and right on the other, to remind myself to flip the template when cutting the cake. Baked a sheet cake and then cut the flip flops out using the template, I got 2 pairs. Ice the flip flops and add whatever accents you want. For the straps I used bubblegumtape. Hope that helps. The cake scraps I turned into a tiramisu, as I had made a sponge cake. One of the guests saw that, and took it home as a dessert, lol, but she did ask beforehand. That is China for you.
