Here's What I Did For My Bleeding Icing.

Thanks for the suggestions about my bleeding icing yesterday. I kept checking back for responses while searching the forums for previous posts like mine, just didn't have time to respond during my panic attack. I ended up getting out my MP and used a fine tipped paint brush to sprinke the MP at the borders where the dark colors would meet lighter colors. I then dry painted the MP over the cow and pink (turning green) pig and the white (turning pink) detail work on the barn. I gave that about 5 minutes to absorb as much as possible. Then I made sure my airbrush was absolutely clean and dry, and used it to blow off the excess MP. I then went back and overpiped a new layer of icing over the cow, pig, and white trim.
The mom called me this morning and when I looked at the caller ID my heart sank. Luckily, she asked "how long before the party did you say I needed to take the cake out of the fridge?" She commented on how cute it was, and didn't say anything about colors bleeding yet (crossing fingers) I told her yesterday to keep it in the fridge overnight, and get it out 2 hours before the party, but leave the box closed. It is very humid here, and when we take the cakes out, condensation will immediately form on it. I found that if the cake stays covered and is allowed to come to room temp before opening the box, the cake stays dry. Party has now been over about an hour and no phone calls about mad cows or incredible hulk pigs, so hopefully the MP dusting worked. Veterans - do you think that worked, or it just finally quit bleeding on its own?
Sounds like you did the right thing. I think the MP was obviously absorbent.
