I've made gray with Americolor black--but only use a little. What did you get last time you mixed black into buttercream? Was it white buttercream to start, or yellow?

I just use the Wilton black in white buttercream, with a little cocoa powder added. Haven't had any problems with it!

I have also used a little bit of black to get grey. You have to make it a little lighter than you really want it because it darkens up a bit as it sits.

As tgirl22 does...I use cocoa powder with a little black as well!

Neat cake. The sprinkles are a nice touch.
