This is probably a really dumb question, but what kind of brush is best for use as a pastry brush? Would a small inexpensive paint brush work or do you need to go with something made specifically for cake decorating? ![]()
I have tried the cheaper ones and have had problems with the bristles falling out. Wilton has a new pastry brush out, it is some type of plastic but just for coating cake pans and so forth. Hope this helps![]()
I use a siolicone one and it's great! no falling out bristles and no "greasy" feel to the brush after I use butter.
use the silicone ones and save yourself ffrom lots of aggravation.
I have a silicone brush that I use for brushing on barbecue sauce, etc. I'll try to attach a photo. Is this the kind of brush you're using to prep pans and to brush crumbs off cakes?
Oh well--obviously I need to learn more about how to attach photos. But back to the question, the silicone brush is the one you use for prepping pans and brushing crumbs off cakes?
