Well, I helped a friend make a grooms cake and here's what we came up with... I tried to get her to cover the board and to make the fish a different color--but other than that I liked the way it turned out! I did the golf ball and the little dude/fishing pole--she did the sheet cake (her first time using the 'grass tip' and she loved it!)

Wow it looks very very cute, great job on the guy!
I agree the board should have been covered, It gets hard transfering a cake with a soft board, you might want to think about cutting the board to fit right under the cake and putting that on another covered board.
Good luck!

Cute cake! I love the golf ball with the little guy in the lawn chair. I agree that the board needed to be covered but she will figure that out.
Great Job!!

Maybe you can finish out the grass tip on the board you allready have and then put that on top of another covered board that is a little bigger.
You can even cut the board you allready have in an oval shape sort of like the puttin area of a green(golf course).
Does that make sense ???

she was all jazzed on doing the cake, give her time she'll learn. I remember when I was guilty of making and icing cakes in the glass pan I baked them in and taking them to potlucks and such........LOL. Boy was I dweeb!

Your collaboration was terrific. Love the whole thing.

Your cake is great. She'll learn about the board, for one thing the covering of it stops grease marks from showing. I agree with ladefly, just cover the rest with more grass and place on another board.

ladefly,
It's OK--I totally didn't take it like that... I take any and all comments/advise constructively--I love hearing what the other ladies on here think! icon_smile.gif
And yes, when she saw that it was leaving a 'grease halo' she put another ring of grass around the bottom, but then it just got bigger... she said that she was going to just leave it and then when she got there for delivery she would add another quick ring of grass and hopefully it wouldn't spread until after the cutting...
We'll see! icon_smile.gif

I think it is fantastic!!! I am very new and already addicted to CC and everyone's input...I spend hours (that I should be working icon_wink.gif ) reading. Do you mind giving me a little info on how you made the golfball? Is it a round ball cake? I love it!!! I also love the water affect you have in the grass. SUPER job!!!!! I am impressed by your work!
