I am needing to know if I can make silver for bc cake? I have gold gel but haven't been able to find anything for silver. Do they make silver gel?

What are you using it for? You can get silver scintillo (from the UK) if you want a silver gel-type thing - or you can pipe in royal or a crusting BC, let it crust, and paint it with a mix of luster dust and vodka.

If ya want a true silver, ya gotta do gray then paint with luster dusts. I posted this question a while back and this is what I had to do.

I tried mixing the luster dust in with the bc and it did not work... thumbs_up.gif

I am making a wedding shower cake and the customer wants silver and dark blue wedding bells on the cake. Where do you get the luster dust at?Can you get it without ordering online? Thanks for all your help!!!!

It really depends on where you are located. I have 2 local cake supply shops that carry it. If you don't have an cake supply shops, you might want to check michaels as Wilton just came out with some dusts. My sister tried it to cover some pearls she did and it worked well she said. Not the shimmer dust though.

I was looking at the luster dusts at CC and it does not show silver as a color you can get, only in the shimmer. I also tried on Wilton and Michaels websites and it was the same also. So will the shimmer not work on the bc??? Has anyone tried it?

CC doesn't carry it...the color is called 'Nu Silver'...I dont think the shimmer would give the effect your looking for.

You can find it at sugarcraft, cakesbysam, caljava, candylandcrafts.... thumbs_up.gif
