Here is a pic of my first cake, this past Mother's Day, my kids got me the 101 Piece Wilton set, and now I have no reason to NOT take the class!! I signed up for my first class which starts in June. I am sooo excited, that I could NOT wait so I bought some books and went to Michaels and got some other stuff, and here is my cake:

I used the Butterdrream recipe from this site, a little sweet for me, and I have to learn how to spread the frosting, but I am sure I will learn. I used royal icing for the flowers. Thanks for anwering my questions that I have had. I spend alot of time here reading and looking at all the pretty cakes. I hope mine in the future AFTER classes turn out just as well.

What a beautiful cake and the colors are great too. Your frosting is fine too. It takes a lot of practice to find what what frosting tecnique works for you. The advantages of using the decorations the way you did is that you don't have to worry so much about the most perfect frosting. People's eyes were probably drawn to the fabulous colors and decorations.
