Sounds like a practice board to me. The white pieces hook together like a picture stand. Lay the yellow board on it to practice. Not sure what it has to do with gumpaste though.

I think it is similar to its use for fondant, if you cut out several pieces, you can lay the ones you aren't working on under the cover of the plastic thing, so they don't dry out. It may just be a bundle thing with the stand.

I have the gumpaste kit and mine did not come with a practice board. Great idea with putting cut pieces under the plastic thought. I never thought of that.

The book shows all the tools and it's uses but it shows nothing using this plastic covred broad or the 2 whit plastic pieces.

Mine came with the practice board and stand, too. In gumpaste flowers class we use the board and put our cut out pieces underneath the flap to keep them from drying out. It's also useful as a rolling mat. It's just the right size to roll out a small piece of gumpaste or fondant for a flower. That way you don't have to carry around a big rolling mat. When my teacher first whipped out her board and used it as a rolling mat, I just felt so stupid. Why hadn't I thought of that before, duh?!

The only time I've ever used my stand with the practice board was when I was learning to do stringwork.

I couldn't figure out what the yellow board and the white stands were either. I wound up not using the board, because I found that keeping my gumpaste wrapped tightly in plastic wrap or under and overturned drinking glass worked best. I used the stands to prop open the instruction book as I was working, but I must say, I was very dissapointed in the realism in the Wilton book. If you look at your local library (or The Essential Cake Decorating Book from Borders has fabulous instructions) they have much more realisitic flowers and talk about shading with chalk.
