The only problem with those supports is you can't adjust the height.. Not all cakes are the same height. With the stress-free supports you can twist the legs and adjust them to any height. Those look sturdy, but they just aren't as versatile as the stress-free. I would be curious if anyone has ever used them.

Cardboard wouldn't work since it would soak up the moisture and become very unstable.

Good point TamiAZ about the adjustment. They also seem like they would tear up your cake or mess up your designs if not inserted properly.

I use these supports. and what i do is bake the cake to the height of the supports, they are very stable and are reasonably priced. I do use standard dowels for odd height cakes.

I have some and the people are Vern & Arlene Haase The sweetest people ever. The buisness is Cakes inc.
www.earlenescakes.com has a visual info page on her web site.
Including the contact info. When I ordered Arlene was not set up to take credit cards .
I love mine and have found MANY uses for them.

She still cannot take credit cards but it is no problem to send a check. She even sent the supports out before she received the check because I needed it quickly. What a great lady!!! I also ordered the acrylic plates to use with the system. Oh my gosh are those things sweet!!!!
